MacNeil (Dave) brings over 37 years of distinguished service from the Watertown Police Department, where he served as detective, forensic photographer, and administrator of the Crime Laboratory. During his career, he led complex forensic operations, processed major crime scenes, and played a critical role in nationally significant cases—including the Boston Marathon bombing—cementing his reputation as a trusted expert in crime scene management and investigative best practices.
Following his retirement, Dave founded MacNeil Investigations & Forensic Consulting, providing advanced forensic services and specialized training to law enforcement agencies, legal teams, and private investigators across the country. As a respected instructor at institutions like Boston University, Sirchie, the National Forensic Academy, and NEMLEC, and in his role as Cold Case Initiative Vice President and Law Enforcement Liaison for Innovative Forensic Investigations, he continues to focus on hands-on training, cold case review, and integrating cutting-edge forensic techniques into modern investigative work.
